What Is DEX?
The need for an indisputable accounting method of actual cash collections, units sold, and price of product was not possible until the advent of DEX/UCS (DEX/UCS, or DEX is the NAMA standard for electronically retrievable audit data). DEX specifies a data format to enable all machine types and machine models to communicate electronically in a similar manner. The DEX information available includes: sales, cash collections, product movement, and other vending machine activities.

Where Can I Find DEX?
Many of the new generation vending machines in production include factory installed DEX audit or 'Resident DEX'. Your company probably already has machines in service with DEX since the OEM's began to include the DEX feature in 1995. There are also some single price changers that can be purchased with DEX audit, but they tend to provide limited information.

What About Non-DEX Machines?
InOne's SmartOne Electronic Audit Box retrofit those machines that do not already have DEX. You can easily implement audit for virtually all of your machines! InOne offers the only solution which works in most every vending machine. It is for this very reason the SmartOne Audit Systems have been so successful throughout the industry and are chosen by operators over 90% of the time as their DEX retrofit solution.

In addition to the SmartOne Electronic Audit Box, InOne has the SmartOne VMC replacement controllers for many of the older snack vendors. With these controllers you can implement DEX and get the latest functionality that is offered with today's MDB peripherals as well as Guaranteed Vend Sensing.

Is DEX Hard To Implement?
No! Both the SmartOne Audit Box and the SmartOne VMC replacement controllers make DEX surprisingly easy to implement. The Audit Box installs in about 5 - 15 minutes per machine with simple connections. InOne has taken a "kit" approach to DEX installation. There is no drilling or soldering involved. All connections are made to existing harnesses in your machines. Installing audit is as "EASY" as 1- connect to the coin and bill mechanisms, 2- connect to the selection motors at the controller, 3- set up the SmartOne with your machine information. Simple!

The SmartOne VMC replacement controllers are easily installed in about 30 - 45 minutes and use the same connection points, existing harnesses and mounting hardware as the original board.

How Do I Know If My Machine Is Already DEX Equipped?
Many recent machine models come with a factory installed DEX system. To determine if your machines are DEX equipped or Non-DEX use our handy list of (Factory Installed DEX Machines-PDF.)

How Do I Get The DEX Data Out Of The Machine And Into My Software?
DEX data in an EASY, SmartOne VMC or in a DEX-equipped machine can be retrieved with the Pocket Probe, SmartOne DEXmate or with any other DEX-compatible hand held unit. It can also be downloaded and transmitted via a remote data collection system like InOne's inVision Remote Monitoring System. Data from all your route stops is collected and down-loaded daily from the handheld or telemetry device into your central office computer. From here, your office personnel can analyze the data to your specifications.
